Adolf Loos 1899. Loos created this simple, unadorned Viennese coffee house in the peak of the Art Nouveau period, very close in both space and time to the exuberant Secession Buiding. The Loos-reconstruction was criticized for the lack of authenticity and the uncomfortable furnishings. The cafe was again remodeled in 2003 and no longer retains the interior as designed by Adolf Loos. At the end of 2009, Café Museum was closed until its operation was resumed by Irmgard and Berndt Querfeld in the summer of 2010.

Adolf Loos’s famous chair has today been revived thanks to new production techniques that successfully leave its artisan quality unaltered. Inspired by Thonet catalogue models nos. 14 and 30, and Kohn catalogue model no. 248, the Loos Café Museum was specifically designed to furnish the famous Café Museum in Vienna in 1898.
